Important Contribution to Surrealism
Paintings, watercolours and drawings
Works by the great surrealist Nikos Engonopoulos will be shown for the first time in Germany. The exhibition is made possible in cooperation with the Artforum Culture Foundation, works are from the collection of the Winter Foundation Hamburg, the Artforum Collection and private lenders.
Engonopoulos, born in 1907 in Athens, was a modern Greek painter and poet. He belongs to the so-called 'generation of the thirties' (including Giannis Tsarouchis, Giannis Moralis and Giorgio de Chirico). and he is together with Giorgio de Chirico the most important representative of Surrealism in Greece.
